Founder and General Secretary

Ruma Roka is the founder and prime driver of the Noida Deaf Society.

Ruma is a subject matter expert in the field of Deaf Education and Training Methodology. She has been called upon various platforms (Universities, Schools, Youth Ki Awaz and Ted Talks) for sharing her ideas as well as bringing to fore the challenges faced by the Deaf Community.

Ruma is a respected figure in the disability space. She has been recognized widely for her work by the government and the civil society. She has been honored with the Amazing Indian Award by the Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi ji. She has also been honored with the 100 Women Achievers Award by the President of India, Mr. Pranab Mukherjee.

Ruma is on the Advisory Panel of different organizations and is a member of the General Council of the newly setup, Sector Skills Council for Persons with Disability (SCPWD) under the Skill India Initiative in partnership with the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC).
